DIY Popcorn Seasonings

First, mom mom started listening to Christmas music this week. for most people christmas music signals christmas, for me it signals about the half-way mark till christmas.
second, well, i like Popcorn, just not plain popcorn.
It's just so bleh.
oh, and i'm in LOVE with the popcorn seasonings that you buy at the store, but they can be pricey.
but they are gradually getting more and more creative with their flavors. Like cajun, apple cinnamon, pizza, bacon cheddar, and chocolate marshmallow(don't know how i feel about the last two or three flavors).
so for each flavor you obviously make the popcorn and either butter it or spray it with oil so that the seasoning sticks. oh, and all recipes can be changed for your taste buds, but i cannot vouch for how it will taste.
mexican hot chocolate: sweet with chocolate and cinnamon
heaping tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar
1 scant tablespoon of cocoa
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
mix.
barbecue: inspired by the sauce. . .
heaping tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic
1/8 teaspoon paprika
mix.
italian mix: herby and looks like a mini salad
1tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
mix.
oh and this is good with parmesan sprinkled on too.
gingerbread: christmas in july?
2 scant tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
pinch of salt
mix.
then google "tilt" funny until you can't figure out how to untilt. you'd think to just google untilt, huh. well i couldn't figure that out.
so i googled it.

cookie dough in the headlights

you know how when you use the flash on a picture it gives it the much unwanted "deer in the headlights" affect?
behold, cookie dough dip in the headlights.
 and now your blinded.
i tried the chocolate chip dip recipe that i found on the lovely katie's blog. it tasted waaaay better than this picture looks
 ummmmmm,
YUM
"i'm here for my close up"
But seriously, this dip was DYLish.
oh and did i say that it was healthy? it is. don't judge a bowl of cookie dough dip by how good it looks. wait, scratch that. do.
i left a full bowl of it on the counter and went to say something to my dad and when i came back like 10 minutes later, the thing was practically all gone and my sisters were the culprits. they are like food critics, except they only eat sweet things and don't ever criticize. usually.
and i took a picture of a hole
just for you.

Summer Love

reasons i love summer:
drinking strawberry smoothies on the porch
looking at people who dress better than i do
hanging with these crazies
a certain someone was being so crazy that there isn't a single non blurry of him.
taking pictures outside
being outside and playing in the dirt
and listening to anything by my current obsessions: JJ Heller or Mat Kearney

oh, and i love thrifting. everyday always.

Sincerely Thrifted

i went garage-sale shopping with my grandma and found some awesome things that i wanted to share

the loot
uber cute vintage earrings (fabric bought at goodwill for 2 bucks. score.)
i love belts (especially vintage ones) because they go with everything and give it shape
beaded tassels for my room for a buck
i've had a crush on just about everything j crew for a while so when i found this suit i was pretty much freaking out (did i mention it was from j crew?) (i could not afford a regularly priced $80 or more swimsuit) but i was hesitant to buy it because of how low it was, so my mom (being the brilliant person that she is) told me we could buy a bandeau to wear under it, so i picked this up even thought he floral print isn't exactly cute, but they look good together.
this looked vintagey (emma tells me this is not a word) so i bought it
i spent a total of $7.75 (pretty good, huh?)
we also got sonic today at happy hour and i got my absolute favorite drink ever, a slushy without flavoring. it is good. order it.

new streusel mug cake

first i wanna say that i'm soooo sorry for everyone who actually tried my original version of this recipe. it was missing a few key ingredients and i feel so silly for reading it wrong and for causing you to make a really hot, hard, disgusting mug cake. so here's the real recipe that really works.  again from this recipe
cake part:
5 1/2 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons of sugar
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon sour cream

streusel:
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon

stir all cake ingredients in a mug until smooth. make streusel in a small separate bowl and then put on cake batter. cook in microwave for about 1 and a half minutes.

brownie mug cake

do you love brownies? yes
do you hate washing the dishes? yes
do you like eating? especially eating sugary things? yes and yes
do you like chocolate? yes
I present you with brownies. in a mug. made in less than five minutes. heaven in a jar. with frosting. and you can eat it all by yourself.
(as delicious as it looks. . . i promise)

mix in a mason jar or a mug 4 tablespoons of chocolate chips and 2 tablespoons of butter.
microwave for 40 seconds and stir.
mix in 4 tablespoons or sugar then stir. beat an egg and mix in with 2 tablespoons of flour.
microwave for 1 minute and while it is cooling make chocolate frosting: melt 1 tablespoon of chocolate and mix in 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of cream cheese and 1 tablespoon of milk. then spread on and eat. delicioso.

7 questions

so. this week was hard. i'm pretty much ready for school to be over and for it to summer. i mean, like a gazillion(23) worksheets and a bazillion(4) tests have been given this week. i feel so craft deprived because i haven't made like ANYTHING in a month. seem like a problem? it is. and being a difficult teenager and a renounced drama queen is hard work. i'm kidding. mostly. so i thought i could tell you about me. i don't care if you want to know or not. you're being told.

Funny photo of myself:

1. You just invented the next big thing. What is it? its a device that tells you where all your belongings are at all times- i have a problem with losing things.

2. Are you a lover or a fighter? ive never been in love and ive never been in a fight, so i am not really sure how to answer this.

3. It's almost Mother's day- if there was anything you could tell your mother, what would it be? i would tell her first, thank you for putting up with me all these years. i can be a pain in the behind sometimes. second, i know i'm messy. sorry. i'll pick up my room as soon as i'm done writhing this.

4. Do you like your hair curly, wavy, or straight? my hair is pretty much straight all the time, and i love it when it's wavy, but i used to curl it really tight and walk around my house fully believing i was Shirley Temple.

5. If it was your last day to live, what would you do? i would spend the whole day with my family having fun, making messes and NOT cleaning them up.

6. What color are your eyes? Do you like their color? blue, green and hazel sometimes. i guess it depends on. . . i'm not completly sure why they change but i love them because they are all mine. didn't know i could be posessive of my eyeballs, did you?

7. Fish, Beef, Poultry, Wild game, or Tofu?
probably fish or beef.

Day by Day

some pictures i took last week i like:
 emma.
 kate.
 cool lighting.
the moon coming home from manhattan.

now: easter at my house, but first, cole.
this is how you look when you fall out of a window.
yes, you heard me right. cole. fell. out. a. window.
don't freak- he's obviously fine. he and i were touching the screen our window well as i tried to explain to him what rain was (it was raining) and the screen popped out and he fell in. facefirst. onto the concrete. had a bump on his head the size of an egg. but he's ok and is playing with his trucks on the keyboard right now.
so, easter-
grilling delecious burgers at at my grandparents house.
and then, easter egg hunting (no one else will pose like cole will)
discarded eggs
an outfit i want a lot in the jcp magazine
told you i ramble.
taking it day by day.
